The Container Department at Churchill's features spectacular, custom-designed planters, from simple, monochromatic window boxes to dramatic urns. All are available to purchase, and to inspire customers' own creativity. The Department works closely with all of Churchill's plant departments to create captivating and unique containers that incorporate Annuals, Perennials, Roses, and even a small Shrub or two.
The Container Department is located inside the large Annual greenhouse behind the store. A vast selection of pottery is displayed with finished containers to demonstrate ways to design with distinctive stone, metal or ceramic.
Our Container Designer has a degree from the Thompson School of Horticulture at UNH, and has been at Churchill's for 18 years. She designs at an area inside the greenhouse. Customers are encouraged to ask her questions about Container Design and plants in general, and observe her as she creates.
The Container Department offers many very popular, interactive planting events throughout the year. On April 14th and for six Sunday's in May and June, Linda leads a lively group in a hands-on seminar that imparts principles of container design. Attendees are welcome to observe the presentation, or to dig-in and plant their own containers. Soil and clean-up is on Churchill's. Visit the Events Calendar page for details throughout the year.
Having a party, or want to quickly dress a backyard barbeque? Linda will also customize a container or collection of containers for you. Simply purchase a container from our wide selection of pottery, or bring in your favorite planter. Linda will create a container designed to your specifications.
